I am Artem Biziaev, owner and maker of Northlift Belts leather products, based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Most of my income comes from the production of weightlifting products. I produce lots of custom and wholesale lifting belts, straps, wraps and accessories for strength sports. I offer six models of lifting belts, all of which I have designed over the course of my eight-year career.

I currently produce out of a private workshop in the West End of Edmonton, but this is the ninth space that my business has occupied. I started out of my father’s leather-craft room – he had been a leather tradesman in the 1980s and 1990s in Soviet Russia – and then moved into the basement, followed by various offices, living rooms, bedrooms and dens until I found this current location. It’s a beautiful space, with lots of light, where I’m happy to spend eight hours a day. My smallest workshop was a 125 sq ft den in an apartment, so this 800 sq ft private shop is quite the upgrade. I’ve quickly filled the space – you can never have enough tools, machines or storage.
